It takes all kinds

Today at the grocery store, Eddy was getting all kinds of compliments.  Not only was she walking like such a big girl while holding on to the cart, but she was sporting a pair of princess sunglasses and a headband.  At one point, a lady walked by us and looked down at Eddy and said, “oh, she is sooo cute!  Enjoy it, they grow up so fast.”  Just as I was pondering that thought, I looked up to see her pushing her 9 yr. old daughter who was riding in the baby part of the cart and waving hi to us.  Hmm…ooorrrr not.

Happy Anniversary to us

Nope, not our wedding anniversary…our foster kid anniversary.  One year ago today, at around this time in the evening, we were nervously on our way to pick up our first set of foster kids.  Of course, you know how that all turned out and what a huge blessing that was, but boy what a year its been!

Like most milestones in life, I can’t believe that its already been a year, and yet I also can’t believe that its only been a year.  So here we are, a year later, with five foster children under our belt (well, if you can count Eddy even though she’s still…over our belt?), a baby on the way, half of us are now unemployed (intentionally), and we live in a much better house for our lifestyle...

Eddy, meet Mickey, Mickey, meet Eddy.

Well, we did it.  We can add “successfully taken a toddler to Disneyland” to our list of things we’ve done in our lives.  Oh, and we didn’t actually meet Mickey Mouse, the line was crazy long, and, well, how would you have responded to a giant mouse trying to hug you when you were 2?  

Two weeks ago, Nathaniel had to be about 2 hours north of us for a school thing, and since it wasn’t going to be over until late that night, he decided to get a hotel room and we made it a family trip.  It didn’t take me long to realize how close to Disneyland we would be, and since this has been my greatest wish for the past few months to take Eddy to Disney (while she was still under 3 and free, of course), we decided to take advantage, and Nathaniel gave me a very special Disney day for my birthday...
