We’re gonna laugh about this one day, right?

Please tell me that other young families go through days like we had today.

So, not all of our time here in New York City has been rosy and filled with amazing days of nice people and good food.  Some of our days here are downright crappy and hard and it takes some effort not just burst into tears or to want to hop on a plane back to Chattanooga (assuming “hopping” on a plane with two small children was easy).

Today was one of those days.

For the past few weeks we’ve been dealing with a mouse issue.  It started one day when Nathaniel and I were making a Saturday pb&j, and when Nathaniel went for the bread, there was a large tunnel straight through it.  We’d been invaded, and little black pellets all over the kitchen, the pots and pans, the silverware, etc, proved it...

New York State of Mind

I can’t believe we only have 8 days left in NYC.

We really have had a wonderful time here, albeit super busy.

Most days we start off doing some kind of field ministry.  We were each assigned to a “team,” which is supposed to simulate a missions team on the field, and each team is assigned to a church in the area.  Our’s is a small church plant with very sweet people.  Three mornings a week we have been asked to participate in their park ministry.  Then, just after lunch (around 12:30), we have to get on the train for over an hour to be in class from 2:00-5:30.  Most of the classes have focused on different issues we will encounter on the field and how to address those.  It has been wonderful teaching...

Let’s Hear it for New York

Weee’re heeereee!

We arrived in to New York City on Friday afternoon (after both kids did well on the flights), and given our keys to our apartment.  A MTW staff member helped us load up in the taxi, and then sent us on our way.  I felt a little like I was being pushed out of an airplane – I wasn’t ready to be on my own in this ginormous city, but at least the taxi driver knew how to get us to our apartment.

After unloading 2 car seats, 2 pack n’ plays, 2 strollers, 2 carry – on bags, 2 suitcases, a diaper bag and a backpack, we were thankful to find out that our apartment on the 5th floor does have an elevator.  A sketchy, bouncy, turn of the century elevator, but one, nonetheless.  Even if it is broken down at this very moment.
