Hoarders: The Missionary Version

We got paid the other day, but instead of working on our monthly budget, I’m taking the time to blog.  As a side note, pretty much anytime I blog it’s because I’m avoiding doing something else.

There’s nothing like the fresh start to a new fiscal month – all those numbers in the bank account when just days before there were so many less of them.  Too bad I know that each of those numbers already had dibs on them.

But, these last few weeks, it’s been a little tempting to get sidetracked from where that money should be going and put it towards where we want it to go.   We don’t really need heat or food, right?  Wouldn’t it be so much more fun to put that money towards something more exciting? And what is that you ask?

Grace

A few weeks ago, we ran into old college friends who had just had their second baby.  As we were chatting, my friend’s mother -in-law asked me, “when did you start to feel normal with two children?”  After a second, I said, “well, at 4 weeks post partum, we boarded a plane for New York City for a month and have just kept going ever since, so we haven’t really felt normal yet.”  Now on the other side of that New York adventure, I can kind of hear how absurd that sounds.  Taking a 4 week old to New York for a month!  How in the world did we do it?
