Autonet Mobile….

Posted by flooter under Fun times

…because surfing the net on your laptop while driving isn’t illegal in CA – yet.

Autonet Mobile is the first internet service designed for your car.  Unfortunately, it is too overpriced for me to even want it.  I mean, maybe for that long roadtrip with youngish kids, but really?  A one year contract at $30.00?  It is pretty cool though….

Anyway, here it is:

Fun loot

Posted by flooter under Comedy, Fun times

If you have trouble using Google, here is the site for you:

Google for Dummies

(hint: Search for something and then click on the “go” button that appears under the link.)

And here is some weirdness:

Who has time for this?

And here are some facts and figures about Valentine’s Day for your Valentine’s Day reading pleasure:

  • The lovers’ holiday traces its roots to raucous annual Roman festivals where men stripped naked, grabbed goat- or dog-skin whips, and spanked young maidens in hopes of increasing their fertility.
  • In the Middle Ages, there was a belief that the first unmarried person of the opposite sex you met on the morning of St. Valentine’s Day would become your spouse.
  • Hallmark began selling cards in 1913. Since then the market for Valentine’s Day cards has increased beyond lovers to include parents, children, siblings, and friends.
  • Americans will spend about $14.7 billion in retail sales on Valentine’s Day in the United States.
  • The average U.S. consumer is expected to spend $103 on Valentine’s Day gifts, meals, and entertainment, down from $123 per person in 2008. (from seattlepi)

Cake Wrecks

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Top Fav

Bored?  Cakewrecks has you covered.  Go through a few of these pages and you’ll see why we love it.  The rules, as I’ve gathered, require every submission to be a professionally made.  You’ll find that these are no “professionals”.

Here is the link to the first post that got us hooked:

When you just need to say “more”

Posted by flooter under Comedy, Fun times

Text can betray your feelings and intonation.  So next time you pen a sensitive issue, make sure you make yourself “clear” by adding quotation marks as needed:

Are you sure you want to know?

From The Office:

Oscar: She had done a background check on me, she had it printed out.
Jim: No…
Oscar: Yeah. And she was asking me about stuff, line by line, while we were having dinner.
Toby: That is unbelievable.
Pam: What is going on?
Jim: We are doing worst first dates.

Now you too can have the upper hand on your next first date.

Digital tv government coupon

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Nice resources, Top Fav

Want to get an almost free digital converter for that dinosaur TV or yours?

Then check this out….couldn’t have said it better myself:

“….if you still want the luxury of watching TV on your TV, but want digital quality picture, buy the digital converter box ($50 at Wal*Mart, $10 if you have the government coupon [dtv2009.gov]). The picture is amazing, you can get about twice as many channels as with analog, and the best part is that it is completely free. You might need to upgrade your antenna to get the most out of it (we recommend the GE Quantum Antenna HD3 for about $30).” -A.Skrivan

You still pay for cable?!?

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Top Fav

What is wrong with you?

  1. Cable is ridiculously overpriced.
  2. Most of it isn’t worth watching.
  3. You can only watch what they want you to watch when they want you to watch it (unless you pay more for TiVo).
  4. Commercials are forever.
  5. You could be using that money to _______

Hulu.com:

  1. Ridiculously free and legal
  2. Has most major channels and a bunch of movies.
  3. You can watch it whenever and where ever and pick up where you left off.
  4. Commercials are 30 seconds (or non-existent if you have Safari-ad blocker)
  5. Since you’re not paying over $60 for cable you can always rent additional movies you want through Netflix or Blockbuster.

Calling all Settlers of Catan addicts

Posted by flooter under Fun times

My sister and brother in law got my entire family hooked on Settlers of Catan.  But since family reunions are scarce and normally impossible, we found another way to feed our addiction.
