Google Chrome

Posted by flooter under Nice resources, Top Fav

I’m back from hibernation with an awesome floot: Google Chrome.

Google’s browser is FASTER, slick, gives more view space and has incredible tabbing features.  Oh, and they made that address bar at the top actually useful.

HOWEVER there is much skepticism, so use with care - especially as with any new software there will be many kinks to work out.

Better than Vonage

Posted by flooter under Nice resources, Top Fav

So, this may not be very ipmpressive to those of you who don’t have family outside of the US, but for those of you who do, you can thanks me later.

Skype subscriptions

Yes, everyone knows about Skype, but the good stuff comes with the subscriptions.

My fam from Peru can call for unlimited minutes to unlimited phones in the USA for unlimited money $6.00 a month.

Or if the only person they really ever call is you, you could just get an “Inside-the-USA-subscription” for $3.00 a month and have all your skype calls forwarded to your cell/ or home phone.  Then they don’t have to pay a thing.

Another added bonus is that you can surf the web while you talk.

Are you sure you want to know?

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Nice resources, Top Fav

From The Office:

Oscar: She had done a background check on me, she had it printed out.
Jim: No…
Oscar: Yeah. And she was asking me about stuff, line by line, while we were having dinner.
Toby: That is unbelievable.
Pam: What is going on?
Jim: We are doing worst first dates.

Now you too can have the upper hand on your next first date.

Digital tv government coupon

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Nice resources, Top Fav

Want to get an almost free digital converter for that dinosaur TV or yours?

Then check this out….couldn’t have said it better myself:

“….if you still want the luxury of watching TV on your TV, but want digital quality picture, buy the digital converter box ($50 at Wal*Mart, $10 if you have the government coupon [dtv2009.gov]). The picture is amazing, you can get about twice as many channels as with analog, and the best part is that it is completely free. You might need to upgrade your antenna to get the most out of it (we recommend the GE Quantum Antenna HD3 for about $30).” -A.Skrivan

Run faster

Posted by flooter under Nice resources, Top Fav

A computer friend of ours installed this on our computer.  He says that he runs it daily.  I run it about once a week, and have noticed a significant speed increase.  Enjoy.

www.ccleaner.com

CCleaner (formerly Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused and temporary files from your system – allowing Windows to run faster, more efficiently and giving you more hard disk space. The best part is that it’s fast! (normally taking less than a second to run) and Free.

You still pay for cable?!?

Posted by flooter under Fun times, Top Fav

What is wrong with you?

  1. Cable is ridiculously overpriced.
  2. Most of it isn’t worth watching.
  3. You can only watch what they want you to watch when they want you to watch it (unless you pay more for TiVo).
  4. Commercials are forever.
  5. You could be using that money to _______

Hulu.com:

  1. Ridiculously free and legal
  2. Has most major channels and a bunch of movies.
  3. You can watch it whenever and where ever and pick up where you left off.
  4. Commercials are 30 seconds (or non-existent if you have Safari-ad blocker)
  5. Since you’re not paying over $60 for cable you can always rent additional movies you want through Netflix or Blockbuster.

Want a google phone number?

Posted by flooter under Nice resources, Top Fav

Snag one of these free phone numbers that sticks with you for the long haul.  One number to ring any or all of your phones at once.  Low on minutes?  Pick it up at home.  Someone going to call your house or office when you’re not there?  Take the call on your cell.

You also get better features than any voicemail system out there:

Screen Callers
Know who’s calling and screen unknown callers

ListenInTM
Hear why someone is calling before taking the call

Call Record
Record calls on the fly and access recordings online

Block Callers
Unwanted callers won’t be able to reach you anymore

Notifications
Receive voicemail notifications via email or SMS.

Our small business phone number is through GrandCentral and I set it up to show “BUSINESS CALL” as the caller ID whenever someone is calling it.  That way I know if I have to answer professionally.  I’m sure there are many more uses.  Check it out:

Spoofee, Slickdeals and Woot

Posted by flooter under Nice resources, Top Fav

I frequent these sites quite a bit.  They have preeety great deals, and users from all over bring together all the loot from other sites.  Deals on merchandise, coupons, food and freebies.

Users also give you the heads up when restaurants (like Chipotle, Chick-fil-a and others) are giving away free food too.chipotle

We took advantage of this one last year thanks to Spoofee.com :

“Chipotle is offering a free burrito if you come into their store on 10/31/07 from 5pm~close dressed like a Chipotle burrito, taco, bowl or salad.”

www.spoofee.com - my source for most of our goods

www.slickdeals.net - not as slick as spoofee, but perhaps more content.

www.woot.com - One deal a day.

Free food always tastes better.
